Bafa is a region that captivates visitors with both its natural beauty and its rock formations. Even if you’re not a climber, you’ll find something in Bafa that will relax you or pique your interest. Even the donkeys here look different. The moment you arrive, the tranquility, peace, and fresh air fill your senses.

Climbers who have been here before—even if they travel the world and return later—find themselves captivated by Bafa’s magic time and time again.

Of course, in addition to climbing, you can also go on summit hikes, boat tours and historical tours in the region.

As The Climbing Club, we are delighted to include Lake Bafa in our 2026 calendar. During this one-week event, we will go on climbing trips led by professional climbers, take a historical tour/hike in the area, and plan to go to the lake for swimming on our rest days.

The event capacity is set at 20 people.

Candy Rock Mountains, Bafantastik or Bafa

Starting from the village of Kapıkırı, located beside the lake and stretching all the way to the mystical Mount Latmos, the rock formations make this a unique bouldering area. There are thousands of routes already established and waiting to be discovered around Lake Bafa.

When “bouldering” is mentioned in Turkey, Bafa is the first place that comes to mind for almost all climbers. Over time, this area has been visited by many climbers, primarily from Turkey, as well as from Europe and the UK.

The rock structure is generally composed of coarse-grained orange granite blocks. Granite is an unaltered mixture of solidified magma consisting of three minerals: quartz, feldspar, and mica.

The climbing season in the Bafa region runs from October through June. The ideal months are October–November and March–April. While conditions are good during the other winter months, there is a high likelihood of encountering rain.

The Fountainbleau (FB) grading system is used for routes in the area. There are approximately 1,000 established and cleaned routes ranging from 2 to 8b+. Of these routes, 560 are featured in Zorbey Aktuyun’s book *Bafa Gölü Bouldering*.
